Body of man found in reservoir in Co Kildare as gardaí investigate serious assault of woman at burning house

A man (50s) attacked a woman (50s) with an axe and set fire to her home before taking his own life in Co Kildare this morning.

The body of the man, who was known to the woman, was later recovered in nearby Leixlip Reservoir by the Garda Water Unit shortly after 6am.
