American sprinter Quincy Wilson has a special announcement for his followers. The teenage Olympic champion will soon announce his preferred destination for his collegiate career by Monday, on his YouTube channel, if everything goes as planned.

Since the 2024 Paris Olympics, Wilson has made visits to several institutions throughout the USA to choose the right college for his collegiate sports debut. In early November, Quincy Wilson had already earmarked the top five colleges in his preference list.

The educational institutions chosen by Quincy Wilson are as follows :

  1. Texas A&M University
  2. University of South Carolina
  3. University of Maryland
  4. University of Southern California [USC]
  5. University of California, Los Angeles [UCLA]

Quincy Wilson currently studies at Bullis School in Potomac, Maryland. The teenage sprinter has broken the Under-18 world record in the 400m event multiple times and became one of the youngest Olympic gold medalists for the USA in track and field in the Paris Olympics, where he participated in the men’s 4x400m relay finals.

Quincy Wilson previously shared his dilemma between opting for collegiate sports and going pro. The teenage sprinting sensation had appeared on ‘Beyond the Records’ podcast in April 2025, jointly hosted by Olympic champions Noah Lyles, Grant Holloway, and Rai Benjamin. He remarked during a conversation,

“I got two more years of high school (left). I’m going to just let it plan out. We got to see what these two years (hold), you never know if I run 43, you never know,” he said (at 43:38).

Interestingly, when asked about the same, former Olympic champion Justin Gatlin had something interesting to say. The former sprinter mentioned in one of his podcast sessions on his YouTube channel ‘Ready Set Go’, as he said,

“I think he should experience every level a bit of it right maybe a one and done could be in his sights. I mean the time he’s ran in this season, he would have won the NCAA already anyway, he has ran fast than any collegiate athlete.”

Gatlin further added,

“So what does that look like once you get to college because you know what college is, every year it gonna be somebody new and somebody running fast, it doesn’t matter what the event is.”

Quincy Wilson was last seen in action at the US National Championships held in August at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. Wilson finished fourth overall in the preliminary stage of men’s 400m, with a time of 45.39.
