Man who worked at SNUG facility pleads guilty to weapons, drug charges

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — A man who worked at a state-funded anti-violence program was sentenced on weapons and drug charges in Onondaga County Court on Monday morning.
Ahmed Abdi pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a weapon and sale of a controlled substance. Each charge carries a sentence of six years in prison. Those sentences will run concurrently.
Abdi worked for SNUG. The program, which is “guns” spelled backward, seeks to prevent youth from engaging in criminal behavior.
Abdi was arrested on Feb. 14. The Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office said Abdi sold narcotics while working at the SNUG facilities on South Avenue and North Midler Avenue.
