Raptors’ Collin Murray-Boyles out vs. Wizards due to knee injury

The rookie forward has been ruled out for a second consecutive game, Friday’s matchup against the Washington Wizards (Sportsnet ONE and Sportsnet+, 7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT), due to a right-knee MCL sprain, the team announced on Thursday.

Murray-Boyles, 20, last suited up for Toronto’s Monday night win over the Charlotte Hornets, logging four points and an assist in 15 minutes.

The rookie — taken ninth overall — has been a steady contributor for the Raptors, alternating between a bench and starting role. He’s averaging 8.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.2 stocks (steals and blocks), while playing 20 minutes per night.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Mogbo, who’s on assignment, and two-way players Chucky Hepburn, Alijah Martin and A.J. Lawson will also be unavailable as they remain with the Raptors 905, Toronto’s G League affiliate. The 905 take on the Greensboro Swarm on Thursday, looking to extend a franchise-best 5-0 start to the season.

As for the Raptors, they’ll look to remain red-hot themselves on Friday. Toronto has gone 9-1 in its last 10 outings, including a five-game win streak. A victory against Washington would not only extend that streak but also virtually secure a spot in this year’s NBA Cup knockout round — which the franchise has never done before.

The Raptors are 2-0 and the only undefeated team remaining in their group, boasting a plus-23 point differential. A win and an Indiana Pacers loss on Friday would clinch their spot in the next round.
