Bucks vs. Trail Blazers: Despite Bobby Portis’ 20 points, Bucks trail at break

Doc Rivers and Bobby Portis react to the Bucks’ loss to the Pistons

Doc Rivers and Bobby Portis react to the Milwaukee Bucks’ loss to the Detroit Pistons on Nov. 22, 2025.

Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo went through a workout before the game with the Portland Trail Blazers on Nov. 24 at Fiserv Forum.

He was testing out a strained left adductor that will likely keep him out for a few more games.

The Bucks need him back desperately.

Without Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee lost to an injury-riddled Portland team, 115-103, for the Bucks’ fifth straight loss.

Three of those losses have come with Antetokounmpo sidelined, with Milwaukee (8-10) headed for tough road games at Miami and New York.

Bucks’ defense can’t contain Jerami Grant

The Trail Blazers’ injury report is lengthy. Former Bucks guard Damian Lillard was back at Fiserv Forum for the first time since hurting his Achilles in the playoffs last season for Milwaukee. He got a tribute video in the first quarter.

Lillard is expected to sit out the whole season. Portland was also without guards Jrue Holiday, Scoot Henderson, Shaedon Sharpe, Matisse Thybulle and Blake Wesley.

Portland still had Jerami Grant, however, and the veteran wing torched the Bucks for 35 points in 31 minutes.

Ryan Rollins has tough game

Ryan Rollins has been so consistent for the Bucks this season, including three straight games of 20 or more points heading into the matchup with Portland.

But Rollins had a tough game against the strong defense of the Trail Blazers’ Toumani Camara.

Rollins finished with 10 points on 4-for-14 shooting.

Bobby Portis has big first half, but struggles in second

Bobby Portis had another big first half. After scoring 14 points in the first quarter against the Pistons on Nov. 22, Portis scored 20 in the first half against the Trail Blazers.

However, Portis did not score in the second half until just under four minutes remaining.

Portis was also hit with a technical foul in the waning seconds of the third quarter when Portland pulled away.

The Bucks had gotten within 10 points several times in the quarter, but the Trail Blazers scored had an 11-0 run to head into fourth quarter with a 95-74 advantage.
