Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire

Zach Edey, C, Memphis Grizzlies

After he had ankle surgery in the off-season, Zach Edey is back in action. After Saturday, he’s now four games into his second campaign, and Edey looks to be in midseason form. He’s healthy, showing no ill effects from the injury, and slated to take the next steps in his progression.

Edey pulled down 15 rebounds on Saturday, which, when combined with his 12 points, gave him his first double-double of the season. He’s now averaging 12.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, two blocks, and 1.3 steals per game. When compared to his production last year, Edey is line while playing about four more minutes per game. As he works his way back into action, and Memphis is more confident in his stamina, I’d expect that workload to increase.

With his delayed start to the season, it’s likely Edey is still hanging around your waiver wire. He can help across multiple categories, and he’s not going to be a detriment to your free-throw percentage. As a center, that’s huge. I’d also suggest that the best is yet to come for Edey.

Dillon Brooks, F, Phoenix Suns

It’s all about opportunity. That’s what we have to follow, and with injuries to Jalen Green and Grayson Allen, that has presented itself. In fact, we saw Dillon Brooks have back-to-back games with at least 30 points.

Through 10 games this season, Brooks is averaging a career high 21 points. That’s what captures our attention, as he’s generally only good for a few rebounds and assists per game. However, that doesn’t mean Brooks is only a one-category contributor either.

Brooks is averaging 2.6 three-pointers per game to go along with 2.1 steals. That, coupled with an 87.2 free-throw percentage, puts him on our radars.

Reed Sheppard, G, Houston Rockets

The Houston Rockets can’t just play big all season. Some help from the backcourt, from actual guards, is going to be needed. And that should come from Reed Sheppard. After all, he was drafted third overall last season and has a strong supporting cast.

Sheppard is now up to eight straight games in which he scored double figures. in his last game, Sheppard played a career high 37 minutes and also scored a season best of 27 points.

At this point, the Rockets are going to continue to roll Sheppard out there and give him all the minutes he can handle. Overall, he’s at 13.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game. Sheppard has added 1.6 steals per game while averaging 2.9 three-pointers per game. This should be the beginning, and his time on the waiver wire should be short.
