Smriti-Palaash wedding festivities, hospitalisation, cheating claims: All we know

The wedding of cricketer Smriti Mandhana and composer Palaash Muchhal was suddenly postponed, just hours before the pheras were scheduled to take place on Sunday evening in Sangli, the cricketer’s hometown. This highly anticipated event, for which pre-wedding rituals and guest arrivals were complete, was abruptly halted. This sudden change has since led to a series of confusing events, leaving fans and the public uncertain about the couple’s current matrimonial status.

A revisit at the timeline of Smriti and Palaash’s wedding:

Wedding festivities begin

Friday (November 21): The wedding festivities commenced in Sangli on Saturday with the traditional sangeet and haldi ceremonies, both hosted at a local resort. Footage from the events captured the bride and groom taking the stage to perform a joint routine.

Sunday (November 23): The venue for the wedding was Sangli, which is Smriti’s hometown. Among the attendees were the entire Indian women’s cricket team, along with the groom’s extended family and friends, which notably included his sister, singer Palak Muchhal.

Sunday afternoon (November 23): Reports circulated that the wedding was deferred after Smriti’s father was taken to the hospital when his health took a turn for the worse at the venue.

Sunday evening (November 23): Smriti’s manager, Tuhin Mishra, addressed reporters in Sangli and provided this statement: “Mr. Shrinivasa Mandana was having breakfast when his health deteriorated. We called for an ambulance and took him to the hospital. He is under observation. Since Smriti is so close to her father, she decided that till her father recovers, the wedding is indefinitely postponed.”

Palaash Muchhal hospitalised in Mumbai

Sunday evening (November 23): The groom’s family departed Sangli, flying back to Mumbai, where Palaash Muchhal was reportedly hospitalized in Goregaon, suffering from exhaustion and stress.

Sunday night (November 23): In an interview with Hindustan Times, Palash’s mother confirmed the hospitalisation was due to stress, stating that the groom “cried for 4 hours” after the wedding was postponed. “Palaash is extremely attached to Smriti’s father The two of them are even closer than Smriti is with him. When he fell ill, it was Palaash, before Smriti, who decided that they should not go ahead with the wedding rituals until he gets better,” said Palaash’s mother, Amita Muchhal.

Monday morning (November 24): Palash’s sister, Palak Muchhal, posted a statement on Instagram Stories addressing the postponement of the wedding. “Due to Smriti’s dad’s health, Smriti and Palaash’s wedding has been put on hold. Would request all of you to respect the privacy of the family in this sensitive time,” she wrote.

Smriti Mandhana removes engagement photos

Monday evening (November 24): Smriti Mandhana deleted all pictures and videos pertaining to her engagement and pre-wedding festivities from her personal Instagram account. Her teammates, including close friend Jemimah Rodrigues, followed suit by removing all related videos they had posted from the ceremonies.

Neither Smriti nor Palaash have personally commented on the postponement of their wedding, offering no information beyond the official statements provided by her manager and his mother. There is currently no update on when the wedding will be rescheduled. Smriti’s father remains under medical observation in a Sangli hospital.
