Widespread Rain Overnight. Strong storms possible Tuesday afternoon

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – Tuesday is a First Alert Weather Day…. Widespread rain will move in overnight and last through the morning commute. Some areas will pick up 1” of rain in addition to some gusty winds. We will be monitoring storm development from 10am to 5pm. We expect some thunderstorms to form ahead of the cold front as it tracks from west to east. The strength of the storms will depend on how much instability we have after the morning round of rain. If we do become unstable we could see severe thunderstorms with isolated damaging winds and a tornado threat. This threat will be higher to the east of I-65 as the atmosphere will have more time to become unstable. Beyond Tuesday we get a break in the weather. Much cooler for Thanksgiving with highs in the lower 50s. Another storm system could impact the area late Saturday into Sunday. Stay weather alert Tuesday from late morning into the afternoon.
