HBO Max hopes to lure you back with 70% off Black Friday deal

If you’ve been wanting to catch up on It spinoff Welcome to Derry or to resubscribe to HBO Max to prep for next year’s double dose of Game of Thrones, a new Black Friday deal on HBO’s streaming service might just fit the bill. Until Dec. 1, eligible subscribers can sign up for HBO Max’s Basic with Ads plan for $2.99 per month for the first 12 months.

That’s 70% off the current asking price of HBO Max’s Basic with Ads plan, which costs $10.99 per month (after a recent price increase). The Basic with Ads plan lets subscribers stream on two devices at once in “full HD” — meaning 1080p resolution.

HBO Max’s Black Friday deal is open to both new and returning subscribers, through HBOMax.com, Apple, Google Play, Roku, Samsung, Xumo, and other partners; and for new HBO Max customers on Amazon Fire TV.

HBO Max Basic with Ads will get subscribers access to HBO’s original programming, which this year included new additions like Task, It: Welcome to Derry, The Chair Company, and The Pitt, as well as the second seasons of Peacemaker and The Last of Us. The next 12 months of HBO Max should include some strong additions, like new Game of Thrones series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and DC Studios’ Lanterns. A year of HBO Max should also encompass new seasons of Industry, Hacks, The Pitt, Euphoria, and House of the Dragon.

Plus, if you’re looking for reliable holiday fare to drown out your extended family at Thanksgiving and Christmas, HBO Max has some seasonal classics, like Elf, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, and A Christmas Story. Not a bad option for three bucks a month.
