Club Statement: Dougie Imrie

Greenock Morton FC can today confirm that First Team Manager, Dougie Imrie, has departed the club to take up the vacant managerial position at Raith Rovers.
The club was formally approached by Raith Rovers regarding their interest in speaking to Dougie about their managerial vacancy. We were advised that Dougie had expressed a desire to explore the opportunity; the club granted permission for discussions to take place.
Following talks, an agreement was reached between the clubs, with personal terms between Dougie and Raith Rovers also concluded.
We have consistently maintained that we would not stand in Dougie’s way, an approach consistent with our previous stance during the summer interest from Partick Thistle. Although the club is disappointed, we respect Dougie’s decision.
We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Dougie for his hard work, commitment, and contribution over the past few years. He stepped into his first managerial role at a very challenging time, with the club sitting at the bottom of the Championship and played a pivotal role in stabilising our position. His tenure brought solid league finishes, near misses in the promotion play-offs, and memorable cup performances—including the unforgettable victory over Motherwell under the Cappielow lights.
Technical Head Coach Billy Davies will now assume interim charge of the first team. The club will begin internal discussions regarding the next steps in the coming days and will update supporters in due course.
We now enter an important period with significant fixtures across league and cup competitions. We encourage all supporters to continue their outstanding backing of the team. Your support will be vital as we look to build momentum, progress in the cup, and continue our push up the Championship table.
