Frontier Airlines announces new nonstop flights from DTW for $29

Detroit Metro Airport: What to know about DTW

Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport, located in Romulus, Michigan, is one of the busiest airports in the United States. Serving over 30 million passengers annually, DTW offers nonstop flights to more than 140 destinations worldwide.

Pack your bags, snowbirds. Travelers will be able to fly Frontier Airlines nonstop from Detroit to five new cities — all with typically warmer climates — heading into the holiday season.

Frontier Airlines launched service for one nonstop flight — to Fort Lauderdale, Florida — from Detroit Metro Airport on Thursday, Nov. 20, and four other nonstop routes are expected to launch in the following days.

Nonstop service to airports in Houston, Miami, Charlotte, North Carolina, and Cancun, Mexico, will roll out Nov. 21-23, according to the airline.

The Florida and Houston flights will run three times a week. The Charlotte, North Carolina, flight will run twice a week. The Cancun flight will run once a week.

To mark the occasion, the airline will temporarily offer fares starting at $29 for the new domestic nonstop options and $110 for the Cancun flight. There are blackout dates and restrictions for that promotional offer, including a deadline to purchase by 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 3.

Wayne County Airport Authority CEO Chad Newton celebrated the launch ahead of the busy travel season in a news release from the airline.

“With these new routes, Frontier is making it easier to visit loved ones or plan a quick getaway,” Newton said.

Frontier announced the five new Detroit routes in August, along with a sixth new route set to launch in February 2026: a nonstop flight to New Orleans.
