Furious ITV bosses have docked a star from the I’m A Celebrity campmates following Alex Scott being caught sneaking contraband into the jungle.

The celebrity was spotted during last night’s episode using salt that she had smuggled into camp.

Jungle executives have now informed the campmates they’ve forfeited a star earned by Aitch in the latest Bushtucker Trial as punishment.

The celebrities will be informed there’s a contraband amnesty offering them the chance to hand over all smuggled items without additional penalties. Only after this occurs will supper be provided.

A source revealed: “There could very well be more than one smuggler….it remains to be seen who puts their hands up.”

Alex was observed sprinkling the salt onto the crocodile feet during Sunday evening’s programme.

Ant and Dec subsequently confirmed it constituted “contraband” and mentioned viewers would need to wait to discover the consequences.

It remains unclear whether the other campmates knew about Alex’s rule-breaking, or if she was acting independently.

On the spin-off programme, Unpacked, guest Jill Scott remarked: “I am surprised by Alex doing it as I thought she would follow the rules actually.”

Fellow guest Seann Walsh commented: “I was surprised by how indiscreet Alex was with putting the salt on.”

This follows previous series where celebrities have faced difficulties. Last year particularly saw a double rule violation involving salt and teabags.

Radio presenter Dean McCullough succeeded in getting tea bags past programme bosses, which he added to the morning’s hot water supply.

The campmates were later granted a jungle amnesty, during which they were instructed to “bring all remaining contraband to the Bush Telegraph to avoid further punishment”.

Melvin subsequently admitted to smuggling in some seasoning. Over the years, there have been numerous similar incidents.

In 2010, Gillian McKeith managed to smuggle in several prohibited items during her stint on the show, hiding salt, herbs and spices in her underwear.

Hugo Taylor, a star of the 2012 series, defied the rules by secreting a stash of salt and pepper sachets at the bottom of his backpack. In 2013, model Amy Willerton successfully sneaked in an entire bag of makeup, going undetected for 10 days.

TV chef Gino D’Acampo also filled his pillow with forbidden items.

At the time, he revealed: “I stuffed it with a lot of salt, sugar, four different teas and 10 sachets of coffee,” he said. “I had it in my shoes as well. I thought, ‘If the security guys catch the stuff in the pillow, I still have the stuff in the shoes’.”

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! is broadcast daily at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
