Wall Street Goes on a Wild Ride: ‘No One Was Expecting This’

Fear of bursting investment bubbles. Concern the economy is slowing. Pressure on investors to cash in profits. These forces are colliding in markets, leading to the sharpest intraday swings for stocks in months and leaving investors bracing for more.
The S&P 500 fell almost 2% this past week and is down 3.5% in November, even after a snapback on Friday. The tech-heavy Nasdaq composite has slid more than 6% in November and capped its largest three-week decline since April, when President Trump’s tariffs hammered markets.
