Owego Free Academy’s Maggie Hamed signs to play DII Volleyball at Pace University

OWEGO, N.Y. (WBNG) — The Pace University Setters are gaining a Southern Tier all-star this upcoming volleyball season as the River Hawks Maggie Hamed signed to attend Pace University on Monday afternoon.
The OFA Senior has had an impressive career with the River Hawks accumulating 1,064 kills, 143 aces and 457 digs throughout her career at the varsity level.
During her time with the River Hawks her team would see 5 division titles, be crowned STAC champions twice and brought home 4 sectional titles in Class A volleyball as well.
Individually, Hamed was named to the All-Conference team for the past four seasons, was named to the NYS Class A Tournament team last season, was 4th Team All-State in 2023 and was named Greater Binghamton Player of the Year that same season.
When it came to choosing Pace to continue her athletic and academic journey, Hamed told 12 News that the school seemed like the best place for her to grow both on and off of the court.
“I committed to pace for the academics they have a huge academic program, and their athletic team was my second reason why,” said Hamed. “I just fell in love with the girls, and my coach Amanda Wilkins is amazing, and I just feel like I can grow so much as a person and an athlete there.”
Hamed plans to study psychology and sociology at Pace, with the goal of becoming a clinical psychologist working in children’s hospitals.
Congratulations to Maggie Hamed on signing the next step of her journey!
