Coventry City will ‘begin negotiations’ for January signing on Thursday

Coventry City and Stoke City are among the clubs to have shown interest in Mjällby AIF’s Abdoulie Manneh.

On November 5th, we covered claims from Sweden that Mjällby decided not to pause efforts from Coventry City. This was done with the hope other clubs could come forward to sign the 21-year-old.

Their strategy worked as Stoke City joined Coventry City in the hunt to sign the forward in January.

A week ago, Fotboll Direkt reported the Allsvenskan winners will give preference to Frank Lampard’s side amid Stoke City’s interest. A fresh report from the same outlet now covers the latest.

Earlier this week, Mjällby reorganised their coaching setup and can now focus on potential exits, starting with Manneh. He has generated great interest, with Coventry City and Stoke City named again.

It’s claimed the ‘most concrete’ interest comes from Lampard’s side. The outlet further adds Mjällby will ‘begin negotiations’ with Coventry City on Thursday.

Mjällby are eyeing Manneh to be their new record sale in January. They are demanding SEK 45m [€4.1m] and the Championship sides are aware of their demand.

The Gambia international has managed seven goals and three assists from 29 matches this year.
