The reasons why Leicester star Jeremy Monga was dropped

I would love you the Blue Army (as well as any neutral lovers of football and spies from other teams, jokes) to join us as we discuss two Leicester City-related stories today (Tuesday, November 25). The Foxes actually have a game this evening too; you can access some of our match preview content by clicking here.
Back to this article. First of all, I’ll be discussing a squad selection matter which relates to an up-and-coming Fox. We shall look at the apparent reasons why the LCFC starlet hasn’t been in the side or appearing as a substitute much at all of late. So why was Jeremy Monga was dropped?
Next up is a look ahead to some games in the New Year. That’s because the City outings chosen to be televised have been released. Which fixtures will the East Midlands outfit be targeting for victories? And which outings stand out as possibly worrying prospects for LCFC gaffer Marti Cifuentes’ men?
Post-festive Foxes fixtures
OK, after checking with lcfc.com, it appears that Leicester are in demand on telly and online once again. As many as five Championship clashes will be televised in the New Year. So which matches are on the horizon for early 2026? City take on Coventry City, Wrexham AFC and Charlton Athletic in January. Then it’s Stoke City and Norwich City in February.
This is why Leicester City star Jeremy Monga was dropped by manager Marti Cifuentes
The Foxes fan base must be patient with Monga. He has already made many more senior appearances, and certainly starts, than the vast majority of sportsmen his age.
His tallies for goal involvements are probably not where Cifuentes would have liked. Though Monga’s development is in an advanced stage.
“Monga has not played in any of City’s last four matches, missing the defeat to Blackburn through illness while remaining an unused substitute against Middlesbrough, Norwich and Stoke.”

So why did he seem to vanish from the City lineup all of a sudden?
“Sometimes young players will have ups and downs and we try to analyse everything, how they feel, training, everything,” Cifuentes said. It’s not been an easy period for him. He was involved in three games during the international break (for England Under-19s) so it was quite a high load for him.
“We were thinking of giving him some minutes (against Stoke) but with the way the game was developing, we thought Silko could give us something else.
“I have full belief and full trust in Jez and he will have many more minutes this season.”
