Blues release Lucic from AHL PTO

For a second time, the St. Louis Blues have released Milan Lucic from a professional tryout.
The veteran forward had been on a PTO with the team’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds. Lucic, 37, recorded an assist and four minutes in penalties in five games with the team.
A native of Vancouver, Lucic had previously joined the team on a PTO last fall. He was released by the team with a lower-body injury with general manager Doug Armstrong indicating that they hoped to bring him back midseason once he had recovered. He returned to the team on an AHL PTO on Nov. 5.
Originally taken with the 50th overall pick of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft out of the Western Hockey League’s Vancouver Giants, Lucic has appeared in 1,177 career games over 17 seasons with the Boston Bruins, Los Angeles Kings, Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames. Lucic has 233 goals and 353 assists.
Lucic was a member of the Boston Bruins’ Stanley Cup-winning squad in 2011.
