‘Killing him’: Major setback for Robert Irwin hours before Dancing With The Stars finale

Robert Irwin has been dealing with a painful set back just hours before he is due to take to the stage for the Dancing With The Stars finale.
Reflecting on their final week on the popular competition show, Irwin’s dance partner Witney Carson shared that she and Irwin feel like they are “falling apart” after weeks of intense rehearsals.
She also revealed that Irwin has been dealing with a rib injury.

“Robert’s ribs have been killing him,” Carson revealed, and hinted more about that “will be revealed” during the show.
“You guys can get a better idea of what we’ve been dealing with all week.”
Carson also revealed that Irwin’s rib pain has required her to “change some things” about their final routines that “involve the other dancers and involve the other guys.
“It’s just honestly the most stressful part,” Carson said of the final changes to the routine.

“It’s going to take some time and we’re going to have to run it a lot and just make sure that everything is coming together.”
Carson continued to reveal that she and Irwin will be rehearsing as much as they can, despite his pain, up until the final show to “lock” their routines down.
“Knowing Robert, he’s going to want to rehearse ’til the very last second,” she said.
“We’re going to have absolutely no regrets by the end of this.”

Irwin and Carson have been wowing audiences every week on Season 34 of the dance competition, with the Australian star and wildlife conservationist stealing hearts from the very first episode.
“If anyone can pull this off it is Robert,” Today correspondent Reid Butler told hosts Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo this morning, as he discussed Irwin’s injuries.
”He’s had a near-perfect season on the US version of Dancing With The Stars.“

The dance routine that he dedicated to his mum Terri Irwin and his routine to Prince’s 1984 hit Baby I’m a Star which landed him a perfect score have been favourites among his fans.
Reflecting on the season has it comes to an end, Carson added that she is “emotionally and physically exhausted” but finds it “very bittersweet” that “this experience is coming to an end”.

“[It’s been] such a beautiful, special experience this season that it just feels very bittersweet.”
“I really do feel like I’ve already won in this experience with Robert as my partner,” she added.
“[The] experiences and the memories that we’ve shared have been so special and just this entire season feels like the biggest gift.”
