‘Percy Jackson’ Season 2’s New Rating Hints at a More Violent Adventure

We are weeks away from Percy Jackson’s next great adventure. The second season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians is soon upon us, with a new quest and new characters. The first season of the Disney+ series was a breath of fresh air for the fans of the books and author Rick Riordan. Its closeness to the source material, ambitious scope, and lovable performances won the audience’s hearts worldwide, making them super excited for the next season. But Season 2 seems to be more brutal than the first, given its ratings.

The second season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians has earned a TV-PG-V rating. The “V” in this rating stands for “violence,” cementing that Season 2 features significantly heavier action than Season 1, which was rated TV-PG. This is excellent news for the series. As Percy grows up, so does the level of danger, making for a chance to do what the Harry Potter movies did with its characters with progressively darker stories. It remains to be seen how the show’s creative team has incorporated such changes.

What to Expect From ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ Season 2?

As seen in Collider’s Exclusive Preview, earlier this month, Percy (Walker Scobell), Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries), and his new cyclops half-brother, Tyson (Daniel Diemer), will navigate the treacherous Sea of Monsters to find the Golden Fleece. They are on the quest not only to save Camp Half-Blood, but their friend Grover (Aryan Simhadri) and stop the Titan Kronos’ plan to bring down the camp.

The previously revealed trailer shows the perilous journey Percy, Tyson, and Annabeth will take. Furthermore, Tyson’s addition makes a great storyline for our titular hero as The Sea of Monsters will test every bond Percy holds dear. Season 2 will premiere with a two-episode debut followed by new episodes every Wednesday. Along with the aforementioned cast, the new season will bring back Lin-Manuel Miranda, Jason Mantzoukas, Glynn Turman, and many more. Overall, brace yourself for treacherous seas, mighty monsters, and a lot of mayhem when the new season arrives. The show was written and created for TV by author Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg, who also executive-produced along with Rebecca Riordan.

Before season 2 arrives on November 10, you can check out the first season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians on Disney+. Stay tuned to Collider for more such updates on the new season and check out the trailer above.
