‘Acrobatic’ Sai Sudharsan Saves His Wicket With Well-Timed Swipe

Sai Sudharsan was at his acrobatic best, saving his wicket in the penultimate over on day four of the second Test
India found themselves reeling at 27/2, chasing 549 for a win in the second Test in Guwahati, on November 25 (Tuesday). Things could have gone south in the penultimate over of day four when Sai Sudharsan punted the ball down on the ground, only for it to bounce back towards the stump.
On any other day, Sudharsan would have walked back, shaking his head and cursing his fortunes, but not today, as the left-hander showed great game awareness. The Indian No.3 swiftly moved his bat behind and pushed the ball away from the stumps, saving his wicket at the stroke of day’s end.
Earlier in the same hour, Sudharsan had watched his batting partner, KL Rahul, get out to a ball that spun off the rough onto the stumps. But on this occasion, the Tamil Nadu man showed great reflexes, something that would even make his statesman, Ravichandran Ashwin, proud.
However, it wasn’t a day that the Indian team would be proud of, as they were on the cusp of losing yet another home Test and subsequently getting whitewashed against South Africa at home for the second time. A lot of hopes would be pinned on the shoulders of the middle-order to bat out the overs, and save India the Test match in Guwahati.
