Pro-DeSantis investor James Fishback announces bid for governor of Florida

Investor and CEO James Fishback officially announced his bid for governor on Monday.

“BREAKING: I’m running to succeed Ron DeSantis as Florida’s next Republican Governor to make life more affordable for you and your family,” he wrote on X.

“I’ll stop the H-1B scam, tell Blackstone they can’t buy our homes, cancel AI Data Centers, and abolish property taxes.”

Fishback will be in the GOP gubernatorial primary along with Rep. Byron Donalds, who president Donald Trump already endorsed for governor.

Meanwhile, current Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has not backed Donalds, arguing that he hasn’t been a part of Florida victories over the past few years, local media reports.

Fishback has consistently praised DeSantis for his legacy as governor in Florida and said he wants to build on his legacy.

Fishback is currently the CEO of an investment firm and the founder of “Incubate Debate” which hosts free high school debate tournaments.

“Congressman Byron Donalds can’t be our next governor because he won’t fight for Florida like Ron DeSantis has,” Fishback said in his announcement video. “I will. I’ll fight to preserve Governor DeSantis’s wins.”

As of now, DeSantis has not endorsed anybody for governor of Florida.
