Jonathan Bailey is a box office champ!

PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive, 37, became the highest-grossing box office star of the year, so far, after Wicked: For Good made a whopping $150 million at the domestic box office (and $226 million total worldwide) during its opening weekend. For Good‘s dazzling success, combined with Bailey’s other major 2025 movie release, Jurassic World: Rebirth, the fourth highest-grossing movie of 2025 worldwide, has made him the highest-grossing star of the year. Rebirth made $339.6 million at the domestic box office and $868.8 million worldwide following its release in July.

Only A Minecraft Movie, Disney’s live-action Lilo & Stitch and the Chinese animated film Ne Zha 2 have made more money worldwide this year. Superman stands ahead of the latest Jurassic World installment at the domestic box office instead of Ne Zha 2.

For Good and Rebirth also stand out as the only two movies Bailey has appeared in during 2025. The actor stars alongside Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande in the Wicked movies as Fiyero, a prince in the fictional land of Oz who comes between Elphaba and Glinda. This occurs as Elphaba’s conflict with the Wizard of Oz (Jeff Goldblum) and his supporters deepens in the film’s second installment.

In Jurassic World: Rebirth, Bailey plays a paleontologist named Dr. Henry Loomis, who teams up with Scarlett Johansson’s character, Zora, and Mahershala Ali’s Duncan to travel to an island inhabited by mutated dinosaurs.

PEOPLE named Bailey this year’s Sexiest Man Alive on Nov. 3. “It’s a huge honor. Obviously I’m incredibly flattered,” he said of the title in his cover interview. “And it’s completely absurd.”

The actor made news earlier this year when he said in a September interview with British GQ that he intends to take some time away from acting to focus on running his LGBTQ+-focused charity, The Shameless Fund. Bailey clarified that he is “not taking the whole of 2026 off” in an interview with Esquire U.K. published Nov. 9, though he said it is “correct” to assume he will not appear in any movie or television roles in 2026. (Bailey does appear poised to reprise his role in Bridgerton when the Netflix series returns for its fourth season in January.)

Wicked: For Good is in theaters now, and Jurassic World Rebirth is streaming on Peacock.
