Watch: Clubs furious at ‘crude and unprofessional’ TikTok star during Women’s League Cup draw

Women’s Super League clubs were furious over a lack of professionalism during Tuesday’s League Cup draw which included crude sexual references and a ball being mistakenly put back into the bag.

The Subway League Cup quarter-final and semi-final draw was hosted by influencer GK Barry and her footballer girlfriend Ella Rutherford, who plays for Portsmouth, and was streamed live on TikTok.

Barry had the job of drawing the balls while Rutherford, whose team did not make the knockouts, told viewers which side had been pulled out.

However, the draw descended into chaos, with Barry pulling a ball out of the bag before mistakenly putting it back in, only to pull it out again and say: “Am I allowed to do that? I’ve done it now, it’s too late. Oh I picked up the same ball.”

Telegraph Sport understands an adjudicator was present at the draw and confirmed that it was the same ball pulled out. Had it not been, the draw would have to have been redone.

As well as the mistake of putting a ball back into a bag, clubs are unhappy with how the draw was conducted and some of the comments that were made.

At the start, Barry made a comment about “lesbians handling balls” and ended with an innuendo about Subway’s footlong sandwiches by saying: “Even if you’re a lesbian, get a footlong.”
