Get a sneak peek at Pluribus’ new episode in this exclusive clip

We’ve been enraptured by Carol Sturka (Rhea Seehorn) since we were first introduced to the grouchy curmudgeon in Vince Gilligan’s first episode of the brain-breaking sci-fi series Pluribus. She’s a romantasy author with so much self-loathing that watching her feels like a train wreck: impossible to look away from. Yet while she may be abrasive, Carol remains deeply sympathetic and relatable, whether that be because of her depression-watching The Golden Girls, or reacting to the news that the world is now taken over by a hivemind by, understandably, freaking the fuck out.
More importantly, Carol’s on a mission to save the world from happiness — despite being the world’s most miserable person. So far, it hasn’t been going great. That’s taken to a whole new level in Pluribus episode 4, “Please Carol,” when she takes matters into her own hands, forcing the hivemind to do something drastic.
Carol is also at loggerheads with her 12 fellow survivors, who, like Carol, are immune to the alien transmission that leads to the merging of the rest of humanity. But unlike Carol, her fellow survivors are more than happy to live alongside the hivemind in this new, peaceful world. If anything, they see Carol as more of a threat, due to her volatile temper and how it causes the hivemind to shut down completely — killing people in the process.
But maybe she can win them over.
In an exclusive clip from Pluribus episode 5, “Got Milk,” provided to Polygon by Apple, Carol records a message to her fellow survivors. In a far more genteel tone than before, Carol once more asks them to answer the call, save humanity, and restore the world to what it previously was. Whether she’ll receive a single callback remains to be seen.
But viewers won’t have to wait long, with “Got Milk” airing earlier on Nov. 26 on Apple TV. Afterward, new episodes on Pluribus will continue to arrive on Fridays.
