Ruth Langsford says she is “very grateful” as she opens up about life after her split from Eamonn Holmes ahead of Christmas. Television stars Ruth and Eamonn announced they were splitting in May 2024 after 14 years of marriage.
The former couple share grown-up son Jack, 23, together. Ruth says she still likes to make the festive time “magical” for Jack, as well as her own mum Joan by keeping “traditions alive”.
She told Woman magazine that she likes to do “stockings,” “loads of decorations” and games over the Christmas period. Although she admits she “particularly misses” her dad, Dennis, who died a decade ago after battling dementia.
Ruth insists she is now looking forward to Christmas instead of dwelling on the end of her marriage to Eamonn. “It’s about looking to the future and recognising a new chapter, a new beginning. It’s exciting,” she explains.
Since the split Ruth has continued to make regular appearances on shopping channel QVC as well as working as a panellist on Loose Women. She had previously co-hosted segments on This Morning alongside Eamonn.

She said: “All I know is that I am happier than I’ve been in a long time with loads of fantastic opportunities. I am very grateful.”
The TV star recently addressed a possible return to This Morning. When asked if she would host the show alongside “TV son” Rylan Clark, she said: “If they’d have me, they only have to ask, especially with Rylan!”
“I love Rylan. He’s like my son, really. We adore each other, and we’ve worked together before, so who knows?”
Ruth admits worry that she might not have too many Christmases left with 94-year-old Joan. Joan resides in a care facility near Ruth’s home and while she receives excellent care, the presenter oversees all of her personal matters, from accompanying her to appointments to fulfilling any shopping requirements.

She said: “I speak a lot about my lovely mum and about the battle she is facing, so every year with her is a privilege.
“I will spend the big day with family. I always do the cooking which I really enjoy. At Christmas I particularly miss my dad. I don’t know how many more Christmases she [her mum] might have and I value every bit of time I have with her.”
TV star Ruth is said to be single at the moment while ex-husband Eamonn is said to be in a relationship with Katie Alexander. And recently Ruth appeared to take a swipe at Eamonn during an appearance on Loose Women.

It came during a discussion about former Prime Minister David Cameron, who recently revealed he fought prostate cancer. The condition was discovered after Lord Cameron’s wife Samantha encouraged him to go and get tested.
Addressing the announcement, Loose Women panellist Myleene Klass remarked: “It is a known fact that men live longer when they’re married because they have wives, and women live longer when they aren’t married shall we say… you do the maths!”
Ruth responded: “Good to know!” as she laughed with the audience and her fellow presenters about the prospect of a longer life now that she’s single.
Ruth is this week appearing on Richard Osman’s House of Games from 6pm on BBC Two. She will be competing against former Made in Chelsea star Spencer Matthews, comedian Rosie Ramsay, and actor Nathan Bryon.
