Seahawks signing former second-round running back to active roster

The Seattle Seahawks are reportedly making an addition to their running backs room.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Seahawks are adding veteran running back Cam Akers to the active roster.
“Sources: The Seahawks are signing veteran RB Cam Akers to their active roster,” Schultz reported.
The move comes on the heels of the Seahawks running back George Holani suffering a hamstring injury in Week 12.
Head coach Mike Macdonald revealed that Holani is a candidate for injured reserve, so he’s going to miss time.
“It’s really going to be a function of how some of these tests come back and how they progress throughout the rest of the week,” Macdonald said of Seattle’s injured players, including Holani.
Akers was a second-round pick of the Rams in 2020 and showed promise early in his career. However, Akers’ career has been marred by injury over the years, which has led to a steep decline.
Akers last played in a game with the Minnesota Vikings earlier this season. He played in three games for Minnesota and tallied just five carries for 19 yards.
Interestingly enough, the Seahawk face the Vikings on Sunday.
His best season came in 2022, when he finished with 786 rushing yards and seven touchdowns to go along with 13 catches for 117 yards.
In Seattle, Akers will serve as the No. 3 running back behind Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet.
