Alisson Becker misses out through illness for Liverpool as Alexander Isak drops to the bench for the Champions League visit of PSV Eindhoven. Alisson returned for the 3-0 Premier League defeat at home to Nottingham Forest on Saturday after nearly two months out with a muscle issue.

But he sits out the visit of the Eredivisie side tonight. Arne Slot will be in place to offer an update on the Brazilian goalkeeper when he previews Sunday’s trip to West Ham United on Thursday afternoon. Giorgi Mamardashvili steps in for Alisson in the meantime.

Isak, who touched the ball just 15 times against Forest in nearly 70 minutes on Saturday, is on the bench with Hugo Ekitike preferred in place of the £125m striker up top.

Cody Gakpo starts against his former side on the left with Mohamed Salah stationed on the right.

Curtis Jones starts the game at right-back alongside Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk and Milos Kerkez, who keeps his place on the left side, despite the claims of vice-captain Andy Robertson.

That means Dominik Szoboszlai is pushed into an advanced midfield position with Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister also picked in the engine room.

Liverpool have lost eight of their last 11 games in all competitions but have won three of their four Champions League group-phased fixtures so far.

As it stands, the Reds are 10th in the table. But victory this evening would move them into the all-important top eight.
