REPORT: Former Detroit Lions center Frank Ragnow to unretire, return to Lions

DETROIT. (WILX) – Detroit Lions offensive lineman Frank Ragnow will unretire and return to bolster the Lions’ offensive line “sooner rather than later,” according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.
Ragnow, 29, was the Lions’ first-round pick in 2018 and was regarded as one of the top centers in the NFL when he surprisingly announced his retirement in June of 2025.

Ragnow’s decision to unretire is perhaps more shocking than his decision to step away from the game after dealing with numerous injuries in his NFL tenure. Just weeks ago, Lions’ head coach Dan Campbell said, “That ship has sailed,” in response to a question about Ragnow coming back to help the Lions’ ailing O-line. Now, Ragnow is reportedly ready to do just that.
The 20th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, Ragnow is a four-time Pro Bowler and three-time second-team All-Pro in seven seasons with Detroit.
Ragnow started 17 games for the Lions last season. It is unclear at this time exactly when he will return to the field for Detroit.
The Lions take on the Packers in the annual Thanksgiving Day game at Ford Field on Thursday at 1 p.m.
