Coronation Street’s ‘utterly broken’ fans spot Lisa Swain ‘moment’ that could change break-up drama
Those who follow the ITV soap watched Carla Connor make an emotional decision about her relationship with Lisa

Coronation Street fans have said they are ‘utterly broken’ as they watched Lisa Swain and Carla Connor’s break-up unfold – but they think things could have been different.
It’s been about a year since the two women finally gave in for their feelings for one another and they’ve faced a whirlwind relationship so far – and no more so than in the past couple of months.
Those who follow the ITV soap know that back in September, Lisa was stunned to come face-to-face with Becky, her late wife who she thought had been killed in the line of duty four years ago, on their daughter, Betsy’s, 18th birthday.
The timing couldn’t have been more awkward for Becky to return from the dead, with Lisa having just moved into her new home, No.6 Coronation Street, with Carla before getting engaged in a romantic public proposal.
Becky, who claimed she was hiding out in Spain having been put into witness protection following an undercover operation gone wrong, has since been getting in between Lisa and Carla, with a clear intention to get her family back together – whatever it takes – while DI Costello, who was involved in faking her death, puts Becky under pressure to return to Spain.
On Monday night (November 24), Corrie viewers saw Becky arrive at No.6 with a shaken Betsy in tow, revealing she’d been hit with yet another chilling death threat – this time a funeral wreath left on her doorstep, marked “Rest in Peace – Again”.
Sparking fear in Betsy, the teen pleaded with Lisa to help and soon, Becky was being invited to stay, despite Carla’s true feelings. And things only get worse as during Wednesday’s (November 26) visit to the cobbles, Carla signals that their relationship is over.
Carla had been planning a romantic meal and hotel stay for herself and Lisa so that they could spend some much-needed alone time together now that Becky is staying under their roof. But having heard about their plans, a devious Becky decided to come between them – again.
After stealing a bottle of Carla’s red wine, Lisa found an intoxicated Becky laid out on the doorstep of No.6, with no choice but to get her inside and make sure she sobered up. At the hotel, Carla realised that Lisa wasn’s coming, and when she arrived home, she Becky in Lisa’s bathrobe.

Despite Lisa trying to offer an explanation, it seemingly sealed the couple’s fate. Lisa begged Carla not to make her choose between their relationship and Betsy’s relationship with Becky, but the Underworld factory boss felt like her partner’s decision had already been made and she left the house in emotional scenes.
And it upset Corrie fans watching, with some hoping that Lisa had a bigger plan – and that she was about to tell Carla. @TheConnorSwains said: “Turns out I can hold my breath for a whole twelve minutes! What an absolute tour de force this was from Ali and @VixMyers How am I supposed to go to work and function….. I’m utterly broken #Swarla #Corrie.”
They then added: “I’m convinced Lisa was about to apologise for playing Becky and not telling her. For causing her unbearable pain to finally get to the truth and free them from her once and for all. But she bottled it at the last minute! #Swarla #Corrie.”
@Rachy8615 echoed: “From watching it back, Lisa pauses twice. As if she wants to say something but can’t. She was almost ready to tell Carla something. I don’t think Lisa knows the magnitude of what this has done to Carla, exactly why she’s so shocked that Carla’s actually going to leave #Swarla.”
@Rauanna_B replied: “In that moment, I felt like Lisa wanted to tell Carla something. For a second, I even thought she might be the one to end things, just to keep Carla away and protect her. She stayed quiet because she didn’t want to put Carla in danger… #Swarla.”
