Coronation Street sets up Carla and Lisa’s devastating split – but someone is suspicious

Coronation Street spoilers follow for the latest episode to air on ITV1 and stream on ITVX.
Coronation Street has laid the foundation for Carla Connor and Lisa Swain’s split later this week as Becky continues to manipulate the situation for her own selfish ends. Tonight’s episode began with the couple planning to meet at Chariots for lunch and a chat to “take stock” of things, with Carla teasing she might even get themselves a room. After saying they loved each, Carla headed out to work with a smile on her face — unaware that Becky had overheard them.
As Lisa left the house later on, she saw Becky outside in the bushes, staggering about with a bottle of booze in her hand.
Lisa dragged Becky to the front door, telling her to sober up and they’d speak later. Becky pretended to fall over, meaning Lisa had to take her ex into the house.
At Chariots, Carla tried calling Lisa. After not getting an answer, she furiously threw some cash on the table and left.

Back at the house, Becky turned on the waterworks about how she has lost everything and then tried to suggest a hook-up when Lisa told her to shower. A raging Carla returned home to find Becky wearing her bathrobe and joking around with Lisa and Betsy.
“You stood me up for her?!” Carla fumed.
“Today was meant to be about me you, sorting things out.”
Carla accused Becky of making a “miraculous recovery” from her drunken state and called her out for always bringing up her shared past with Lisa whenever confronted to get on her ex’s good side.

“We all know that you go way back, right, before I was even on the scene, but I am sick of hearing about it! She always does it,” Carla continued, before ordering Becky out.
After Lisa didn’t back her up, Carla changed tack and decided she would be the one to leave, stating: “Thanks for clarifying that it’s me that’s in the way. I’m gonna make it dead easy for you.”
Alone again, Becky tried to bad-mouth Carla, but Lisa wasn’t having any of it and told her to get dressed and make herself scarce.
Outside, Kit Green later approached Becky and asked if she knew anything about DI Costello and why he hasn’t been seen all day. But their conversation was interrupted by a phone call revealing that Costello had been attacked.

Carla returned home in the night. After pouring herself half a bottle of wine in one glass, they sat down to talk.
Lisa apologised for not turning up the hotel and that said “there’s nothing more important to me than us”, but Carla felt like she wasn’t being supported or prioritised.
“I feel like a spectator in the sidelines, watching you rekindle your relationship with Becky,” Carla said. But Lisa insisted she’s moved on and is only trying to keep Becky on side for Betsy’s sake.
“Give it a couple of weeks and then Becky will be gone,” Lisa said, which caused Carla to burst out laughing. She accused Becky of lying about everything, including that people are after her and she deliberately chose today to get drunk to sabotage their hotel meeting, and belittled Lisa for believing it every time.

Lisa begged Carla not to make her choose between their relationship and Betsy’s relationship with her mum, but Carla said she had already chosen and got up to go stay at the hotel.
Becky and Betsy came back just in time to see Carla leaving, as a blubbering Lisa begged her to stay.
Becky had a guilty look on her face, but did she really feel bad, and will Lisa realise how manipulative she is? Plus, is Kit right to be suspicious of her regarding DI Costello?
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
