CNN halted for breaking news as Donald Trump ‘weaker than ever’

CNN was interrupted for breaking news as chief data analyst Harry Enten delivered the news that US president Donald Trump is “weaker than ever”. Enten was live on the show to discuss Trump’s approval ratings post-government shutdown, and announced that it was not the Republican Party which came out on top.
Enten said: “I think it’s pretty clear, at least from a political angle, that Democrats won the shutdown. Why do I say that? Well first, let’s take a look at Donald Trump’s net approval rating. It’s way down from where it was pre-shutdown. Pre-shutdown, that approval rating was at -10 points – now it’s at -15 points, the lowest his net approval rating has been during his entire second term in office.”
He added: “So the shutdown, it might have initially been helping Donald Trump out a little bit, or at least his ratings weren’t falling, but now his ratings have sunk to a term two low.”
Asked about how the Democrats fared in comparison, Enten explained: “Look at the generic congressional ballot – they were ahead by three points.
“Where are they now? They’re ahead by five points. Their lead has widened. It has extended. The Democratic lead on the generic ballot has widened.”
Viewers were quick to respond to the segment, with one tweeting: “Stunning new polling from CNN’s Harry Enten reveals how Democrats won the shutdown fight and why Donald Trump is weaker than ever. This is amazing.”
Another echoed: “Trump shut down the government to kill healthcare and ended up tanking his own approval by double digits, congrats on the fastest self-own in political history.”
