Sylvester Stallone gets apology after decades from co-star
During an intense fight scene in Rocky IV, Sylvester Stallone’s ribs were broken, leading him to hospitalization.
Dolph Lundgren, his co-star at the time, from whose punches in the boxing match he got hospitalized, says he still feels guilty over his fellow star’s injury.
“I didn’t know it happened; we were both getting hit in that fight,” he shares while appearing on Fox & Friends.
“He didn’t know about Sly’s injury until the movie’s producer informed him about it,” says the star who portrayed Ivan Drago.
He continues, “We shot for two weeks in Vancouver, and I got back to L.A. … the producer called and said, ‘Hey, Dolph, you got two weeks off.’ I said, ‘That’s great, what’s going on?’ ‘Sly’s in the hospital.’ I found out that way.”
It was a shock, Dolph says after he heard the news. “I did feel a little guilty, you know, he hit me too. He was the boss, I did what he told me, which was good.”
“Go really hard with the body, you know those Russian uppercuts. I don’t know if it was my body or exhaustion or my punches, I don’t know, but he did get hurt. I’m sorry about that,” the actor adds.
Rocky IV was released in 1985 and the fight between them was considered one of the most iconic scenes in the boxing franchise.
