Shona McGarty’s family have given their verdict on the potential romance blossoming in the Australian jungle between the former Eastenders star and fellow campmate Aitch. And it seems that the rapper may have won the family’s seal of approval.
Viewers of the ITV show last week saw Aitch confessing to Angry Ginge about his feelings for Shona. While down by the creek, Aitch admitted: “I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for Shona, me.”
After this confession, hosts Ant and Dec are now rooting for a bit of jungle romance for the 25th series of the show, with fellow campmates also stating that they would make a sweet couple. Both stars came into the jungle single this year.
Finally sharing some insight from the actress’ family, Shona’s sister Camila shared her verdict on the rapper as she landed at Brisbane Airport on Tuesday. She said: “He is a nice guy…I would definitely have him around for Christmas.”
However, she did also add that she needed to see more evidence on the show to know if a romance is actually blossoming or if the pair are likely to only become close friends.
She added: “I don’t know if I see it romantically…it might just be a brother and sister relationship but I don’t know…I don’t think we have seen enough to make a definite decision on it.”

Earlier this year, Shona broke up with her musician fiance, David Bracken. Insiders have said that this was an amicable split, with David recently wishing her all the best on social media as she made her way into the jungle.
Current camp leader Aitch is also reportedly single, as he split up with Lois Cottam before heading Down Under to take on this year’s Busktucker trials.
After Aitch’s confession in the Friday night episode of I’m a Celeb, host Dec revealed he was shell-shocked by the rapper’s comments. He said: “This came completely out of the blue this morning.”
Co-host Ant followed this up by adding: “It’s been a while since we’ve had a proper romance on this show. We’d love to see it….we would celebrate it.”
Before heading into the jungle, Shona also opened up about her struggles with mental health and her ongoing battle with anxiety.
She shared: “My mental health, my anxiety and my depression has been pretty bad over the last at least four or five years, and that has stopped me from doing a lot of things I have always wanted to do.”
Her sister Camila has expressed that she is proud of what her sister is achieving, even if she wished she could comfort her at times.
Camila said: “It’s been strange watching her, including some parts where she has been a bit upset and not being able to be there for her. But she is doing absolutely fine.”
She also said that she is delighted that the nation is getting to see how good of a singer Shona is as she wowed the camp with a rendition of Tina Turner’s Proud Mary. She added: “She is always singing…kitchen karaoke sessions until 3am. We are a very sing song family.”
