Houston Rockets star Kevin Durant had to keep Josh Hart in check after his controversial one-on-one take. In April, the discussion on which NBA player is the best one-on-one scorer. Hart picked the former star, Michael Beasley, over Durant during an episode of his podcast, the “Roommates Show.”

At the time, Beasley and Lance Stephenson had a one-on-one game coming up, which sparked the talk. The former Miami Heat forward won against Stephenson, 31-21, and walked away with the $100,000 prize money.

On Wednesday’s episode of the show, Hart revealed that Durant took offense to what he said. The New York Knicks forward told his teammates, Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges, that KD had sent him a message on social media.

“KD, he DM’d me after he saw that. He told me I was smoking rock,” Hart said. “I was like, ‘Hey bro, I want to see that matchup.’

“And then I saw that, I saw Beas and Lance playing, I had to DM him. I was like, ‘You know what bro, I was wrong.’”

Fans have yet to see Kevin Durant in a one-on-one game. But he’s performed well during isolation situations, making him one of the best offensive players in history. His combination of length, agility and talent makes him almost impossible to guard.

The Rockets played against the Houston Rockets, Kevin Durant’s former team, on Monday. It was supposed to be Durant’s first game back in Phoenix after he was traded over the summer. However, he was listed as out due to a family matter.

The Golden State Warriors, KD’s old team, will play the Rockets on Wednesday. But Houston will continue to miss him since he’s out for the same reason.

Suns insider John Gambadoro said that a source told him that KD is starting a family, he revealed on Monday’s “Burns & Gambo show.”

“I’m not reporting this, but somebody had told me like, ‘I think that he’s having a baby,’” Gambadoro said (Timestamp: 8:40:33). “So, I think that’s why he’s not playing, but I don’t know for sure. But that’s what somebody told me, ‘Hey, I think he’s becoming a dad.’”

There is no confirmation about whether the insider’s report is accurate. The team did not specify the reason in their initial report. The Rockets have not provided any further information on Kevin Durant’s absence.

The next possible game for Durant to reunite with the team will be on Sunday, as the Rockets will face the Utah Jazz.
