Wednesday’s FTB: Willy saves the day

William Nylander scored both the first goal of the game and the last against the Blues last night, though, if you didn’t watch the game, it probably doesn’t mean what you think it does.
Willy’s first goal was not ideal.

But Willy made up for it all in OT.

Here’s the heat-map at 5-on-5 play for the game. A bit of an odd one for both teams with Jake McCabe notably scoring for the Leafs from the moon.
Here’s the post-game presser, complete with McCabe dropping an f-bomb.
In any case, at the end of the day, the Leafs did not get badly out-shot, and they walked away with a much needed two points in the standings. Interesting they did this with Matthew Knies a healthy scratch because of “reasons” or something.
The next Leafs game is tomorrow against the Blue Jackets. The Marlies play the Senators tonight in Belleville and will finally be back for two home games this weekend against the Iowa Wild.

It was next-gen hat trick night, with both Connor Bedard and Macklin Celebrini getting one each, and it is the second of the season for both. Of course, Celebrini has yet to change the fact the Sharks are still 12th place in the Pacific.
