The Celebrity Traitors’ star Ruth Codd has taken to social media to share with her fans that she has undergone a second amputation below the knee. Making her return to TikTok, she showed off her new “whip” which she has lovingly named “Fat Tony”.

The Irish star had Traitors’ fans across the country in bits during the first Celebrity edition of the BBC show with her dry and sarcastic sense of humour. The 29-year-old used this same humour as she shared the sad news with her fans.

At 23-years-old, Ruth had her right leg amputated, below the knee, after an injury she sustained at 15 failed to heal correctly. This led to bouts of chronic pain and multiple surgeries over the years before it was removed. Now the same has been done to her left leg.

Ruth initially shot to fame through her TikTok videos, where she talked about her disability amongst other content, reports the Mirror. From there, despite having no previous acting experience, she was later cast in two Netflix series – The Midnight Club and The Fall of the House of Usher.

Posting the TikTok video from her parents’ home, Ruth started the video by saying: “Hi guys. So, I have some good news and some bad news.”

Known as ‘ruthcoddsnotdead’ on the platform, she went on to explain: “Good news – we’ve had a full circle moment. I’m back making TikTok content in my parents’ house.

“Bad news – I can’t do it in front of that lovely blue floral wallpaper any more, due to the fact that that room is upstairs. I’ve just had my second below-knee amputation. So, unfortunately, those facilities are not available to me at the current moment in time. So a lot to unpack there for everyone involved.”

While she didn’t explain why she had decided to undergo a second operation, Ruth did show her fans her new wheelchair, named “Fat Tony”. She wittingly added: “She has the top speed of f*** all, especially if there’s a step involved.”

Currently boasting more than 550.4K views, Ruth’s fans were quick to share the actress’ unique sense of humour in the comments section. One person wrote: “But I was only here for the floral wallpaper!”

While another joked: “Look babes, we all want a second season of Midnight Club – but taking the 2nd leg is a bit far,” to which Ruth replied: “@netflix you see what I mean?”

Rahul Kohli, Ruth’s co-star in The Fall of the House of Usher, also cracked: “Excuses, excuses.” This then prompted Ruth to reply: “How do I block someone twice?”

However, some viewers seemed to be highly confused when they first saw the video due TikTok’s captions. Without the sound on it appeared that Ruth had her ‘second bologna amputation’ rather than ‘below-knee’.

One TikTok user innocently wrote: “Is this a joke?” Thankfully another user helpfully explained: “She’s saying ‘Below knee amputation’ not ‘Bologna knee amputation’ which it says in the captions – Bologna being a city in Italy.”

A further user suggested: “Ruth you gotta tell us which Paralympic event you’re participating in so we can tune in.” She wittily replied: “Rhythmic gymnastics,” before adding: “Guys stop being nice to me it’s weirding me out.”

During her time in The Celebrity Traitors Ruth was selected to be a Faithful. Sadly, she only made it to the fourth episode before she was murdered by Traitors Jonathan Ross, Alan Carr and Cat Burns.

Once she found out she was leaving the show, Ruth said: “I was murdered definitely because I was a threat to the traitors. I was one of the few people in the group that had my own mind that couldn’t be influenced. I’m mentally extremely strong and stubborn. I really do wish the faithfuls the best of luck.”
