Welcome to Season 49’s Next Time On Survivor weekly feature on the Inside Survivor site! If you’re new around here, I’m Steph from sunny, tropical, humid Singapore. This is a tiny space where I give my best attempts at understanding preview trailers and make my predictions for the show’s next episodes.
The NTOS trailer begins with Kristina sounding troubled and fearing, “It’s me next.” I think this scene corresponds to the episode description, which states, “one player left visibly shaken after being left out of the vote.” In the last episode, Kristina and Steven were the only two players to vote against Sophi, while the rest of the tribe voted together for Alex, who was eliminated.
Related to this, a sneak preview scene reveals Sophi, Sophie, Rizo, and Savannah considering voting out either Kristina or Steven, proving that Kristina’s fear isn’t unfounded. Unfortunately for her, this is quite expected as their original Hina tribe alliance has been dwindling in numbers. Sophie, who was on the starting Hina tribe, is pretty much cemented with Sophi, Rizo, and Savannah since the last episode. Seeing how certain she felt that she was unwelcome in her previous alliance, I’m predicting that Sophie’s not returning to vote with Kristina and Steven.

In another sneak preview scene, Sage reminds us that Steven had previously shared with her about Kristina’s hidden immunity idol. She then decides to share the information with Jawan, her number one ally since the start of the season. I’m quite sure then that we’ll see Jawan leaking the information to the rest of the players, in hopes of building new trust. I suspect that Sage will eventually come to regret keeping Jawan in the loop, and it will cost her the alliance she has with Steven.
From the episode description, we’re told that there’s going to be an “epic blindside” during tribal council. This corresponds to the shocked expressions we see in the NTOS trailer from the three jury members, Nate, MC, and Alex. I predict that what happens at tribal council connects to the sneak preview scene of Sage sharing about Kristina’s hidden immunity idol. I think the alliance of Rizo, Savannah, Sophi, and Sophie will seek to work with Sage and Jawan to take control as a majority. We might even see Sophi using her Knowledge is Power advantage, which nobody knows about, to obtain Kristina’s immunity idol. That would certainly be the shocking “epic blindside” the preview content is hyping.

As a result, my prediction is that the players stick to what’s safe in the upcoming chaos at tribal council. Steven and Kristina will continue being isolated from the rest, and I think Steven will be the next to go as he’s a challenge threat and seems to have more social connections.
