Large, inflatable balloons depicting characters Derpy Tiger and Sussie were tested before the 99th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Happy Thanksgiving! It’s finally Turkey Day and with that, the start of the holiday season. Many are waking up this Thursday morning eager to get the day started, and there’s no other tradition like the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Celebrating 99 years, the annual spectacle officially kicked off at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 27, in midtown Manhattan at West 77th Street and Central Park West. From there, the parade moves south to 59th Street, then east to Sixth Avenue, then south again to finish at the Macy’s flagship store in Herald Square.
You can watch the entire parade on NBC or stream it on Peacock beginning at 8:30 a.m. ET. An encore on NBC will follow at 2 p.m. ET. Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb and Al Roker of NBC’s “Today” show are set to return as telecast hosts.
To create a more inclusive experience for blind and visually impaired viewers, Macy’s said, the full NBC broadcast will be presented with live audio description on the Secondary Audio Program channel (SAP), provided by Descriptive Video Works.
