Herbal tea recalled over risk of salmonella contamination

A batch of Senna Leaf Herbal Tea sold under the Celebration Herbals brand is being recalled across several provinces due to possible salmonella contamination, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency announced this week.
The recall applies to 24-bag packages of Senna Leaf Herbal Tea (42 g) with UPC 628240201829, marked best by: Oct. 29, 2028 and lot: 251004. The product was distributed online and in stores in British Columbia, Ontario and New Brunswick.
Health officials warn consumers not to consume, use, sell, serve or distribute the recalled tea. Anyone who purchased the product is advised to throw it out or return it to the place of purchase.
Food contaminated with salmonella may appear normal but can still cause illness. Symptoms can include fever, headache, nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Young children, older adults, pregnant people and those with weakened immune systems are at higher risk of more serious infection.
Anyone who believes they became sick after consuming the recalled tea should contact a healthcare provider.
