Winter Storm Beau to blanket Northeast Wisconsin with snow over the weekend

(WLUK) — Our second named winter storm is coming this weekend, just a few days after our first named winter storm of the season.

Winter Storm Beau will drop 4-7 inches of snow across much of Northeast Wisconsin Saturday with the majority of it coming in the evening and through the overnight.

A Winter Storm Watch is in place for most of the area Saturday.

There will be some higher amounts, possibly between 7 and 10 inches in the southern Lakeshore counties and far southern parts of the area. Specifically in Manitowoc, Kewaunee, Sheboygan, and Fond du Lac counties. The relatively warm waters of Lake Michigan will enhance the snowfall in these locations and lead to higher snow totals.

The snow begins Saturday morning in the southern parts of the area and spreads northward midday Saturday. Accumulating snow is expected between 10 or 11 AM Saturday morning and 7 AM Sunday morning. Behind the storm system on Sunday there will be some blowing and drifting of the fresh snowfall due to NW winds that may gust up to 30 mph.

Beau comes on the heels of Winter Storm Aurora, which brought between 1-3 inches of snow across much of the region. Strong winds also caused traffic concerns for those traveling to their destinations the day before Thanksgiving.
