Lawsuit accuses Avondale council member of kidnapping teen, propositioning father

AVONDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — An unusual legal battle is unfolding in the West Valley. Jeannette Garcia, an Avondale City Councilmember, is accused of propositioning a man and kidnapping his 14-year-old daughter when he declined.
There are no criminal charges involved.
The father and his daughter filed the lawsuit anonymously under the aliases Father John Doe and Minor Jane Doe on Nov. 14.
According to the lawsuit, the alleged incident happened last November when Garcia was on the council and a Turning Point USA employee.
Father John Doe is reported to have worked for Garcia’s team for TPUSA.
He said coworkers went out to dinner to celebrate the elections.
Garcia is accused of “making remarks, inviting and suggesting” having sex with Father John Doe and offering him employment with TPUSA if he agreed to it.
The lawsuit states Garcia “became more aggressive and explicit” due to “excessive consumption of alcohol,” which forced Father John Doe to leave the restaurant.
When he got home later that night, his daughter was not there.
MCSO deputies reportedly showed up at his door and told Father John Doe that his daughter was “safe” and with Garcia.
He alleges Garcia decided to “take his daughter from his home without his permission” and claimed Garcia “manipulated” his daughter by telling her she worried about her father becoming violent after drinking that night.
The lawsuit claims Garcia and other TPUSA employees were drunk when they picked up Minor Jane Doe, who reportedly did not return home until 12 hours later.
Jeannette Garcia responded to Arizona’s Family with a statement.
“I am aware of the outrageous and false accusations being made about me. Let me be very clear: these claims are untrue. I have never kidnapped anyone, never harmed anyone, and never solicited anything inappropriate, ever.
The situation being referenced involved me helping a young girl. Anyone twisting an act of support into something malicious is spreading intentional misinformation.
Again, these accusations are false. I am preparing to pursue legal action against those responsible for spreading these lies and for the damage they are attempting to cause to my reputation.
I will not be intimidated, I will not be smeared, and I will not allow false allegations to define my name or my work.”
Arizona’s Family reached out to the plaintiffs’ attorney, Turning Point USA and the other defendants in the lawsuit. We have not received a comment.
This isn’t the first time Garcia has been accused of bad behavior.
In February, Garcia made headlines after posting “Hey pedo @TomHanks” on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Pedo” is a shorter word for pedophile, and that is a Q-Anon conspiracy about the popular actor.
Garcia later posted on X to clarify that she meant “Pedo”, the Spanish word for fart.
She also addressed the scandal at a City Council meeting, saying, “You misunderstood my statement. But the biggest part about my statement was about racism.”
