Last week many people in parts of Wales woke up to snow caused by the weather phenomenon known as the Pembrokeshire Dangler. As we now approach the beginning of December, the dangler has returned and the Met Office have predicted whether we will see snow again or a white Christmas this year.

The Pembrokeshire Dangler is when the winds come down from the north bringing showers through the Irish Sea that hit Pembrokeshire and often go down to Cornwall and Devon.

Last Thursday – November 20 – the dangler brought cold air that brought so much snow that children were able to build snowmen and sled down the hill.

However, as the temperature across Wales is milder than it was last week the country is potentially going to see some heavy rain across the week and weekend rather than snow.

Met Office meteorologist, Alex Deakin explained that across the UK December will be “milder and wetter generally” and not the bank on any snow for the rest of the year.

Th weather forecast for Wales today from the Met Office says: “A dry and cold start but any brightness in the east short-lived. Some rain arriving in the west this morning and turning increasingly wet and breezy more widely this afternoon. Chilly, but turning milder in the south and west later. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

“A wet evening, then drier overnight albeit with occasional drizzly rain possible. Turning murky across the higher ground. Temperatures rising and becoming very mild by the morning. Southwesterly winds strengthening. Minimum temperature 7 °C.”

This weekend most of Wales will see longer spells of rain with it “turning colder once again and rather windy at times.”
