A humpback whale known as Pi has been spotted off the Isles of Scilly, delighting people on the islands.

Pi’s become a bit of a local celebrity, with sightings now a winter tradition for many, and this year photographers have snapped stunning shots of the whale in action.

The Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust says Pi’s been returning for several years – and was seen in both 2023 and 2024.

The Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust said: “It’s officially Cetacean Season!

“With the arrival of our favourite marine mammal Pi, we can expect to see more whales visiting our waters soon.

“This years’ first sighting of Pi was on 17 November.

“That’s one month later than last years’ first sighting on 23 October.”

Anyone who has take a picture of Pi (or any other creature) is urged to send it into the Trust.
