Soap watchers will recall that Kev Townsend, played by Chris Coghill, made his debut in the village earlier this year as the estranged secret husband of Robert Sugden, played by Ryan Hawley.

The duo had married while in prison together and upon Kev’s release, he headed to the village to reunite with Robert unaware that his partner’s heart belonged to his ex-husband Aaron Dingle, played by Danny Miller.

After trying to keep his marriage to Kev secret, it was eventually revealed and Robert finally decided to dump Kev, who claimed he had a terminal heart condition and Robert could inherit his alleged fortune.

Robert and Aaron tried to keep their rekindled romance under wraps but of course, in true soap style, Kev discovered the truth. On Thursday’s episode, Kev was out for revenge as he held the duo hostage with a sword, where an oblivious Liam Cavanagh also found himself caught in the ordeal.

Threatening to kill the trio, Robert got in the way when Kevin lunged at Aaron, resulting in Robert’s arm being injured to which Liam tended to.

During the scenes, DS Carter rang on the doorbell as she was looking for Caleb Milligan after being alerted to the fact that drugs were being moved through the depot business.

However, a suspicious Kev accused one of the trio of calling the police on him, insisting he couldn’t go back inside. After protesting their innocence and Robert apologising for breaking his heart but ultimately his love is with Aaron, Kev realised he had nothing keeping him in the village.

Liam encouraged Kev to leave once and for all while he still could as a free person. Kev decided to leave the village and before he left he had a chat with long-lost biological son Lewis Barton, warning him to be careful of who he lets into his life and to not be hurt.

It has been reported that Emmerdale are keen to have Kev back in the future so is this the last we’ve seen of him?

Taking to Twitter, now X, soap watchers were quick to react as one person said: “Given Kev is Lewis’s father I don’t think tonight is the last we’ll see of him. He’ll probably be back for the crossover #Emmerdale #Robron.”

Emmerdale continues on weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV and ITV X.
