Coke bringing back a nostalgic soda flavor

Coca-Cola is bringing back its iconic soda flavor: Diet Cherry Coke.
The flavor is returning permanently in early 2026, food review platform Snackolator posted on Instagram this week.
“At the NACS show I spoke with a Coca-Cola representative and they confirmed this is a ‘sustain’ item which means it is intended to stick around (not a ‘limited’ flavor) so hopefully it sells well enough to stay FOREVER this time,” the post reads.
Snackalator also said that the flavor will release to all retailers, in 20 oz bottles as well as 12-packs.
The flavor was first introduced in 1985, and rebranded in 2006 as “Diet Coke Feisty Cherry” until it was discontinued, brought back in 2018 and discontinued again, per GeekSpin.
This comes amid a push from Coca-Cola toward more growth, as the company reported a 5% jump in net revenues for the quarter ending Sept. 26, despite inflation and challenges related to weather and the geopolitical environment.
“We benefit from operating in a vibrant and resilient industry with ample headroom for growth,” chairman and CEO James Quincey said during the company’s third quarter earnings call in October. “By offering consumers choice across our total beverage portfolio by leveraging our systems capabilities, we continue to build momentum to develop our industry and expand our lead over the long term.”
The Atlanta-based company also said that its Diet Coke products generally have seen “strong volume growth” in the last quarter.
“We’re investing behind our brands which led to broad-based strength across our total beverage portfolio,” said Henrique Braun, executive vice president and chief operating officer.
