If you thought Indian Idol had drama, wait until you watch this new singing-based show called IndiGo Air-dol. No, it is not your ordinary show as it reimagines the airline’s iconic in-flight tune with a full-blown audition setup. Yes, that is the level of comedy the internet has unlocked this week and honestly, nothing could compete with this one.
The hilarious video comes with a text overlay that reads, “IndiGo Air-dol.” The twist? The judges are not humans; they are flights. Actual planes, seated above a chair while also commenting on the performances.
The auditions start off strong with contestants giving their best shot at singing songs for IndiGo. But as soon as the second hopeful finishes, the flight-turned-judge hilariously dismisses them with a brutally honest, “Tu please nikal.” Then the final contestant recreates IndiGo’s familiar melody. They sing the brand-new in-flight track called All I Want Is Touchdown, which is apparently the tune IndiGo now plays before takeoff and after landing. Guess what? The judges, or should we say flights, were visibly impressed as they said, “Ap hamare sath Navi Mumbai airport aa rahe ho.”
The video shared on Instagram came with the caption, “A pure love and hate relationship with this song.”
Lots Of Love-Hate Comments
The responses under the video? Pure gold. One viewer wrote, “How ironic, I’m sitting in an IndiGo flight right now while listening to this.” Another confessed, “I still remember how this song would play in my head all day whenever I flew with IndiGo.” One of the funny comments read, “Ye music sunte hi free ke sandwich ki bhookh lag jaati hai.” Someone came up with hilarious poetry, writing, “IndiGo, IndiGo, flying fast like go-go-go! But snacks so small, even my hunger said ‘no-no-no!’”
The internet is now joking that the next and only logical step is a full reality show hosted by an airport trolley and judged by a panel of boarding bridges. At this rate, Terminal 3 might just win Best Actor.
Voice Behind IndiGo’s In-flight Music
Interestingly, IndiGo’s in-flight music track has two artists for the vocals, Ayushi Joshi and Srishhti BhitriKothiy. Ayushi sang the main lyrics, whereas Srishhti lent the background vocals and harmonies. Earlier, Srishhti posted a video of herself from a flight, quietly recording herself while her voice played in the background. Passengers, busy boarding and adjusting to their seats, were clueless that the talented singer was sitting among them.
