The warm moment comes just days after Mathison spoke out online to defend his daughter following an upsetting experience related to his “General Hospital” character.
He explained that Leila had stumbled onto a YouTube compilation criticizing Drew Cain, and after reading negative comments, she became emotional.
“This is a Facetime call I got from Leila and I screen recorded the call but I somehow didn’t get the audio,” he explained. “There was so much hate and aggression towards mostly my character but partially me too… and she was really upset and it bothered her… she couldn’t handle it.”
Mathison encouraged fans to remember that comments affect real people, saying:
“I guess I’m just putting out there that remember when you’re making these comments and saying things about people that they have kids and their families and good friends… I thought I’d just make this little Instagram reel to encourage people to keep that in mind.”
His message prompted support from fellow cast members, including Katelyn MacMullen who commented, “Love you Cam!” and Rory Gibson who added, “The most kind, chill, generous guy on set.”
