5-star Georgia QB commit projected to flip to SEC school

The Georgia Bulldogs could lose their top commitment in the class of 2026 just days ahead of the early signing period. Five-star Georgia quarterback commit Jared Curtis is projected to commit (per 247Sports) to the Vanderbilt Commodores, per 247Sports’ Tom Loy.
Vanderbilt has been trying to flip Curtis for a while. The Commodores hosted Curtis for the Missouri game this season. More recently, Curtis attended the Georgia-Texas game.
Curtis is the No. 1 recruit in the 2026 recruiting cycle. He is the top-ranked quarterback and the best prospect in Tennessee. Curtis plays high school football for Nashville Christian. He is a physical runner with excellent size. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound quarterback has been committed to Georgia since May. He committed to Georgia over Oregon, but Vanderbilt has recently emerged as a contender for the talented signal-caller.
If Curtis decommits from Georgia, the Bulldogs may have to scramble to find a quarterback in the class of 2026. Georgia could also try to add a transfer quarterback. The Bulldogs could return their entire quarterback room next season, including Gunner Stockton, so Georgia has a number of answers on its roster at quarterback.
Of note, three-star quarterback recruit Michael Mitchell decommitted from Vanderbilt on Nov. 21. The Commodores have the No. 47 recruiting class in the country with 20 commitments. Georgia has the nation’s third-best recruiting class and 30 commitments in the 2026 recruiting cycle.
