An exciting all-star charity concert is set to take place at Wembley Arena next year, featuring a remarkable lineup of artists and celebrities dedicated to supporting trans rights. This event, titled “Trans Mission,” is being organized by Olly Alexander along with the Mighty Hoopla festival, and aims to raise crucial funds for the Good Law Project and the trans-led charity Not a Phase.
The concert will showcase a diverse array of performances from well-known artists including the Sugababes, Wolf Alice, Romy, and Sophie Ellis-Bextor, among others. Additionally, it will feature appearances from prominent figures such as Green party leader Zack Polanski, actor Ian McKellen, comedian Grace Campbell, and a host of other talented individuals who are advocates for trans rights.
Alexander expressed his thoughts on the event, emphasizing the importance of community action in these challenging times. He stated that real and lasting change is essential, and that through solidarity, creativity, and collective fundraising, the concert aims to combat the politics of fear and exclusion. The impetus for organizing “Trans Mission” comes in response to a troubling rise in hate crimes and discrimination against transgender individuals, notably following the UK Supreme Court’s ruling on biological sex and the subsequent guidance from the Equality and Human Rights Commission. Co-founders of the Mighty Hoopla festival, Glyn Fussell and Jamie Tagg, shared their commitment to standing alongside the trans community, stating that it’s time to unite and fight back against the ongoing hostility.

Jo Maugham, founder of the Good Law Project, hailed the concert as a celebration of the creative brilliance found within the trans community. He stressed the importance of fighting for a new, inclusive future, countering attempts to confine trans individuals within outdated societal norms.
