Callum Morton: Bristol Rovers sign free-agent striker on ‘short-term’ deal

Bristol Rovers have signed free-agent striker Callum Morton on a “short-term” contract.

The 25-year-old most recently played for Northampton Town while on loan from Salford City.

He has been without a club since leaving Salford in the summer.

The Gas are currently on a seven-match losing streak in League Two that stretches back to September and have scored just three goals in that time.

They host Notts County at the Memorial Stadium on Saturday.

“I’m really delighted to get the deal done and join Bristol Rovers,” Morton told the club’s website, external.

“Obviously I’ve been in a bit of a difficult period for myself but, now the deal is all signed, I really want to hit the ground running.

“I think this is exactly what I’ve needed, the platform to go out there and show what I can do and be myself again. I want to use this deal to put myself in a good position going forward and help the club out too.”

Morton has scored 17 goals in 116 league appearances, having also represented Northampton Town, Lincoln City, Fleetwood Town, Peterborough United, Salford City and Forest Green Rovers.
